Ingrid Abrahams (Deputy Headteacher, Great Barr High School, Birmingham):


Ingrid has over twenty-five years of teaching experience, with fourteen years at senior management level. She has during this time acquired a wide range of skills which are generic in their capacity to analyse and evaluate teaching and learning within a diverse range of contexts. Her present position as Deputy Head teacher (Teaching and Learning) demands clear strategic leadership and concise monitoring and evaluation for whole school improvement. Great Barr School is one of the largest school in England with over 2,500 students and over 300 staff. 


Ingrid has examined aspects of teaching and learning in Bangladesh (April 2007) and Australia (July 2010). These study visits have been invaluable in developing her knowledge of pedagogy, lesson design and monitoring processes. Her dedication and dynamism to education is unquestioned. She brings to all tasks a desire to improve standards.


Ingrid is also a qualified Ofsted Inspector and inspects on a termly basis.

Andy Phillips:


Andy founding APAssociates in 2004 and responsible for developing and growing the training and consultancy services for schools, Dioceses, LAs and other partner organisations. Andy has extensive teaching and senior leadership experience gained in primary & secondary schools. For ten years, he headed up and developed the in-service training division for schools and headteachers at St Mary’s University College.


Following this, he was a schools’ adviser in Surrey LA as well as the Managing Director for training and development for one of the largest school inspection contractors. Andy has undertaken consultancy work for the British Council running their Headteacher Leadership Development Programme for Estonia; Croatia and Kuwait. He has also undertaken consultancies in international schools in Abu Dhabi; China; Gabon, India; Italy; Spain; Thailand; the United States and Venezuela.

Andy is also a serving Ofsted inspector and leads the inspections of both primary & secondary schools.


Chris Banks:


Formerly HMI, Chris Banks (Director, BPC International) worked on developing the inspection system, particularly writing guidance and training programmes for inspectors and schools. He is a specialist in matters related to educational management and school improvement, equal opportunities and educational inclusion in all phases. As an independent consultant he now works closely with schools, local authorities, the DFE (in the past as a London Challenge adviser) and with various national organisations and private sector contractors. 


Most recently he has concentrated on developing more rigorous and robust school review and self-evaluation procedures as a radical approach to building planned strategies for sustained school improvement.

Annalea Gratton (Early Years Lead, Spring Grove Primary School, Middlesex)


Annalea has over eight years experience in leading Early Years in an OfSTED rated outstanding school.  During her teaching

career she has taught across the Primary Key stages and has supported and developed the transition between Reception and Year One both in her own and other schools.  She takes a lead on the Foundation Stage assessment analysis to provide an overview for future development, primarily in the Foundation Stage but also Year One.    


She has used her highly developed communication skills to work closely with the parent community across the school, leading workshops on a range of issues such as learning through play, supporting your child through the Foundation Stage, phonics, reading and maths. 


Annalea has been on the Good Practise register for her cluster of schools and also a leading teacher for the Hounslow Borough. During this time she supported other Early Years Leads in monitoring the standard of teaching and learning and ultimately the evidence gathering in order to support the assessment process, more specifically the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile. Her expertise lays in supporting the child initiated learning and using the classroom environment to support this process.
